We’re asking our communities to share their experiences and tell us what resources, training or information would help to look after yourself, your family and friends in an emergency.
We know our communities face many challenges and we want to understand what’s important to you and plan for how we’ll respond.
Why we are doing this
In 2018, Resilient Sydney collaborated with all 33 greater Sydney councils to create a city-wide resilience strategy. The resilient Sydney strategy provides the framework and guidance for councils to develop a strategy specific to their local area.
The new resilience strategy we are developing describes challenges that communities in the City of Sydney area face and opportunities for action.
It considers how we:
- address homelessness, perceptions of safety, lack of affordable housing, access to food, digital inclusion, social cohesion, loneliness and isolation
- manage our infrastructure and buildings to withstand shocks and stresses and improve community resilience
- adapt to a changing climate including heat, drought, storms, flooding and rising sea levels, and create solutions for those who are most impacted
- build the wealth of our communities through diversity, inclusiveness and revitalisation of our city
- work with communities and government to prepare organisations, services and people to respond to and recover from shock events.
