Summer’s one of the best times to get around Sydney on 2 wheels. But where’s the best place to park your bike if you want to hop off and explore more?
New share bike parking in all the best spots
With more than 22,000 trips on share bikes each week, parking’s at a premium.
That’s why we’re trialling share bike parking zones in Martin Place, Market Street near Pitt Street Mall, Castlereagh Street, Central station, Green Square, Redfern and Ultimo.
The new share bike parking spots are next to the regular bike racks, making it safe and easy to park while keeping the pavement clutter free.
Look for the on-ground stickers that say: “You can park share bikes here”.
3,000 places you can park your own bike
You can choose from more than 3,000 bike parking rings and U-rails across the city to lock up your bike. Invest in a ‘D’ lock to ensure your bike is safe and don’t forget to record its serial number – just in case.
If you’re in Kings Cross, there are 32 free bike parking spaces on level 5 of the Kings Cross carpark – just bring your own lock.
Over at the Goulburn Street carpark in Haymarket, you can use your own lock to safely store your 2-wheeler in 1 of 9 individual bike cages. Or contact Secure Parking on 02 9211 0013 for a pass to access the free secure cage with 24 spaces.
You can also request bike parking U-rails or rings outside your work, home or favourite café.
Making bike spaces in your building
Many new apartment buildings include bike parking, but some older ones don’t. Use this handy guide to installing secure bike parking with tips, resources and case studies to help you get the ball rolling.
