Floral tributes and flags at half-mast marked the death of Her Majesty.
The Governor of NSW laid a floral tribute to Her Majesty outside Government House on Sunday 11 September. It was one of many beautiful floral arrangements laid outside the building.
Kids’ drawings, cards, and even a few photos of Her Majesty were thoughtfully placed among the flowers.
If you’d like to see the floral tributes, you can visit Government House, located in the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney. The gates will be kept open until 6pm.
There are very strict protocols around the types of flowers and bouquets that can be brought into the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney precinct. See the NSW Government website for details.
One of the most visible ways that Sydney has marked the passing of Queen Elizabeth II is by flying flags at half-mast.
Following tradition, the Australian flag will stay at half-mast until the day after the Queen's funeral.
Flags around the country were raised briefly at midday on Saturday 10 September for the proclamation of the accession of King Charles III.
At dusk, the flags we again lowered to half-mast.
