Greeting an estimated 10,000+ visitors a month, our volunteer visitor ambassadors are the first point of contact for many who arrive on our shores.
City of Sydney ambassadors roam visitor hotspots like Circular Quay and The Rocks. The team provides friendly advice on all that Sydney has to offer to new visitors and helps them explore the city for the first time.
Contributing to our economic prosperity
In 2022, overnight visitors spent more than $17 billion in the local area. What they see and do and potentially spend money on is vital to our city’s economic prosperity.
We’re expecting 264 cruise ships in 2023, nearly back to pre-Covid numbers. And with Sydney’s tourism industry growing each year, the City of Sydney is always on the lookout for volunteers.
New recruits
New recruits are provided with training and operate in pairs on their shifts. If you want to share your love of Sydney and can spare 2, 3-hour shifts a fortnight, it could be the perfect role for you. Expressions of interest for the spring in-take of volunteers close on Friday 21 July.
