Make new friends, try something new and get active with free and discounted events happening across our local area this Seniors Festival, from 11 to 24 March.
Here are 5 things to enjoy if you’re 60 and older.
Swim and exercise free
Make a splash at one of our world-class aquatic centres. Pools will open their doors free of charge to City of Sydney residents over 55 for swimming and exercise classes.
Fire up for some friendly competition at this table tennis tournament or join a walking group and explore a different part of the city.
You can even try something for your wellbeing while sitting still. This sound bath and meditation session will immerse you in the soothing hum of singing bowls.
Show off your style
Get dressed up in your most stylish outfit for the older adults fashion and styling showcase!
Work with a fashion consultant to create your own unique look before getting tips and touch-ups from make-up artists and hair stylists. You could be modelling creations by sewing teachers and students, and strutting alongside retired supermodels.
Just dance!
Let 2 dance artists lead you through this workshop combining sound, movement and improvisation using Airsticks, a digital instrument. Or join this movement and dance class for Chinese and English speakers.
Rather be sitting in the audience? Join a Seniors Festival celebration at Ron Williams Community Centre and enjoy live music and entertainment.
Make some new friends
Make new friends or catch up with old ones over pancakes, board games, high tea, or dinner and a stroll around the city centre.
Chinese speakers can get together at Ultimo Community Centre. Get to know your neighbours in Green Square at a monthly social.
Get creative
You’ll get to take home your handiwork after you decorate your own mug at this ceramic glaze workshop.
Explore drawing, ceramics, watercolour painting and printmaking at this monthly art club.
Already working on your next masterpiece? Bring your own project to this social art and craft group.
There's so much to celebrate! See the full Seniors Festival program and find an event near you.
