The name is from the Sydney Aboriginal language and translates to walk Country.
Eleven markers highlighting significant Aboriginal people and places have just been installed along the route, using Aboriginal place names.
The markers are the first component of the long-term project that will bring Aboriginal histories and stories to life through public artworks and installations along the Sydney Harbour foreshore.
Led by Indigenous curator Emily McDaniel, Yananurala is part of the Eora Journey: Recognition in the public domain program curated by Hetti Perkins and guided by the local Aboriginal community.
Walkers can follow the route and find out more about each site using the Yananurala walk on our Sydney Culture Walks app.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists and designers are also invited to put forward proposals for the next Yananurala project - Sitelines and Conversations. A series of audio and text installations will thread together and build on the stories highlighted on the walk’s newly installed signs. Applications close 11am Tuesday 22 November.
