The City of Sydney has received the prestigious Green Flag Award for its ever popular Harold Park.
Awarded by Parks & Leisure Australia, the Green Flag Awards recognise excellence in the management and servicing of parks and open spaces.
Since opening in 2018, Harold Park has proven to be a safe, accessible and well-maintained park with quality facilities for families, residents and visitors.
The 3.8-hectare park has a custom-built playground, barbecues and picnic shelters, cycling and walking paths, and open space for recreation and public art.
As part of a larger network of green open spaces along the Glebe Foreshore, Harold Park helps provide a green corridor for biodiversity.
Native plants including shrubs, grasses, sedges and indigenous tree species – all sourced and grown locally – provide habitat for local wildlife and help increase the City’s green canopy.
An extensive stormwater harvesting and treatment system meets 80% of the park’s irrigation needs.
Harold Park met 27 criteria to win the award.
