Walking to and from Central station, Surry Hills and the Moore Park sports and entertainment areas is now safer and easier.
A significant upgrade to Foveaux Street has improved access for people who walk, calmed traffic and made the area greener.
There are new paved areas and footpath extensions, green space and plenty of new bench seats. Pedestrian crossings have been upgraded and new signalised intersections added. Foveaux Street has been resurfaced and bicycle lanes marked at the signalised intersection on Riley Street.
It's a high traffic area, with thousands of people pouring in and out of Central station. The upgrade prepares Foveaux Street for increased demands that will come when light rail connects to Central.
