Create the visual identity for Sydney New Year’s Eve

We’re looking for a new brand to herald one of world’s biggest and most renowned events.

Sydney New Year's Eve

Sydney New Year’s Eve showcases one of the biggest and most complex fireworks displays in the world.

As one of the most watched New Year’s Eve celebrations globally, it’s important the event has a visual identity reflective of this.

We’re calling for bespoke creative design concepts that align with the event’s philosophy – a bold, colourful and exciting celebration that marks the end of one year and the beginning of another, filled with hope and opportunity.

The design will span a minimum of 3 years and provide a consistent visual narrative across marketing, online content, signs, digital and physical advertising, and sponsor and partner communications.

Design concepts should connect with audiences of all ages and backgrounds, locally, nationally and internationally, with a message of inclusion, celebration and safety.

Concepts should:

  • provide a clear, consistent image or idea of Sydney New Year’s Eve that’s original and instantly recognisable
  • be a graphic unifier for the event over time, providing consistency from year to year
  • offer a clear position of Sydney as a cultural and creative city
  • showcase and promote Sydney and the City of Sydney
  • excites and engages all partners – audiences, businesses, sponsors and government agencies – to participate in Sydney New Year’s Eve
  • leverage the event’s unique and attributable strengths creatively, avoiding predictability.

There’ll be a 2-stage process to determine the successful visual identity and design consultant.

Stage 1 calls for an expression of interest from any creative agency, partnership OR consultancy. Submissions will be evaluated against assessment criteria and a shortlist of up to 3 agencies will be selected to proceed to stage 2, requiring a Request for Quotation (RFQ).

Stage 2 will require selected agencies to submit full creative concept proposals. Shortlisted parties will be paid a fee of $3,000 excluding GST to develop their submissions and invited to present their concepts to the City of Sydney.

Apply online by 11am on Friday 26 July.
