The City of Sydney supports a yes vote in the referendum to recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the Constitution.
We’re encouraging people in our local area to learn more about the proposal before making their decision.
We offer 2 types of venue hire support opportunities for community organisations and groups to host the Voice to Parliament referendum related events.
Venue hire support sponsorship - Yes vote
Support is available for up to 3 recognised community organisations to host free public events supporting the “Yes” vote in the in a City of Sydney landmark venue.
Sponsorships of up to $30,000 each plus GST are available to contribute towards venue hire, equipment, and staffing fees in one of our landmark venues. The landmark venues include Sydney Town Hall, Lower Town Hall and Paddington Town Hall, depending on availability.
These free events must be for a minimum of 500 people. You must meet all standard conditions of hire and pay any additional charges.
Key dates
- Applications open from Monday 29 May to Monday 30 September
- Applicants will be notified upon submission
- Activity must take place before the referendum
Fee waiver for hiring community spaces
Community groups hosting Voice to Parliament referendum and Uluru Statement of the Heart related events and activities can apply to have 100% of the venue hire and insurance fees waived for our community spaces.
You must meet the eligibility criteria, all standard conditions of hire and pay all additional charges including staffing in some venues.
